THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS PREVENTIVE , MUMBAI ZONE- III HAVING HIS HEAD OFFICE AT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, MUMBAI COMPRISES OF THE FOLLOWING COMMISSIONERS

(A) PREVENTIVE COMMISSIONERATE, (MUMBAI)

Formation

The Mumbai Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate was set up in 1970 to exclusively deal with Customs Anti-smuggling work in the Mumbai region. It comprises of two wings viz. Rummaging and Intelligence (R&I) Division and Marine and Prventive (M&P) Wing.

JURISDICTION

Extends from Dahanu in the North to Srivardhan in the South, covering three districts of Maharashtra viz. Greater Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad.

R&I Wing covers the Docks, Mumbai Harbour, Sahar Airport, Sahar Air Cargo Complex, Nhava Sheva port and the city of Mumbai.

M&P wing covers 220 kms long Coastline in the District of Thane and Raigad for Anti-smuggling operations having jurisdiction with R&I in Mumbai City.

(B) AIRPORT, MUMBAI

1. Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport,
Situated at Sahar Village, Andheri (East), Mumbai. This being the largest Airport in the country, is handling the largest number of incoming and outgoing international flights and passenger clearance.

2) Courier Clearance Centre :-
Clearing the Courier consignments and is the major revenue centre.

3) Diamond Plaza Clearance Centre :-
Situated at Lamington Road in Central Mumbai, is one of the premier centres for clearance of precious/semi precious metal and stones.

4) SEEPZ-SEZ :-
This export processing zone, is situated at Mahakali Road, Andheri (East).

5) Airlines Bonds :-
Oberoi Flight kitchen, Taj Stats Flight Kitchen, Ambassador Flight kitchen and Air India/Chef-Air Flight kitchen are the service providing kitchen facilities for in flight services for the International Airlines operating at Mumbai Airport.

(C) PUNE CUSTOMS

FORMATION

Customs Commissionerate, Pune was created in July, 1997 after trifurcation of the Commissionerate of Central Excise and Customs, Pune and falls under the jurisdction of Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai -III.

Pune Customs Commissionerate covers the entire geographical area of the Central Excise Commissionerate's Pune, I, Pune II and Pune III for Customs Work. Commissionerate's jurisdiction comprises of districts of Pune, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara, Sangali, Kolhapur and Solapur.

There are four Inland Container Depots in this Commissionerate three at Pune and one at Miraj (Sangli) which basically cater to the export facilitation. The importations are generally restricted to those by the actual user industries in and around Pune and Miraj. Besides there are a few minor ports at Ratnagiri, Dabhol, Jaigad, Vijaydurg etc. This Commissionerate has coastal area under the control of Customs divisions at Ratnagiri and Dapoli. The Commissionerate has the following field formations.

(a) CFS Pimpri
(b) ICD Dighi
(c) ICD Miraj (Sangli)
(d) ICD Pimpri -Chinchwad
(e) Customs Preventive Division, Dapoli
(f) Customs Preventive Division, Ratnagiri
(g) Lohegaon Air Cargo Terminal, Pune (Yet to be made fully operational)


The following functions are performed by this Commissionerate -


Anti smuggling and preventive work including collection of intelligence, Joint Sea Patrolling, Night Road Patrolling by departmental vessel, Rummaging of cargo vessel etc.

Assessment at CFS, Pimpri, ICD, Dighi, ICD Miraj(Sangli), Pimpri-Chinchwad and coastal Divisions at Ratnagiri and Dapoli,

Work relating to NDPS Act (Narcotics),

Supervision of Marine wing at Ratnagiri

Supervision of tele-communication wing.


(D) COMMISSIONER (Appeal) CUSTOMS MUMBAI-III
